Origin: IE [Indo-European] [906] *senH- `prepare, complete'
Etymology: The forms αὐτο-έντης (S.) and συνέντης συνεργός H. point to *ἕντης, the full grade of the root in ἁνύω `realize, complete', combined with αὐτός. The root is aniṭ from forms where the laryngeal was lost before vowel, Rikov, Orpheus 4 (1994) 63 - 66. The meaning `murderer' hardly as a euphemism (nor through association with θείνω, s.
